Lisbon climbed 14 positions compared to last year, ranking 4th out of 50 cities in InterNations's 2022 Expat City Ranking.
The Portuguese capital is among the top 5 in the Internations ranking, being one of the highest scorers in three of the five indexes: quality of life, personal finances and ease of settling in.
In addition to these parameters, cities were also ranked based on climate, career prospects and level of happiness. In the latter, Lisbon was considered one of the happiest cities in the world, only surpassed by Valencia.
These indexes, shown in percentage, are also compared globally. Lisbon's level of happiness, for example, scored 86%, while the global average is 71%.
In terms of climate, Lisbon is only two points away from 100%, and in terms of work, it scored 46%, compared to 60% globally.
The ranking was released by InterNations, one of the world's largest expat communities with over 4.5 million members. The Expat City Ranking is based on the Expat Insider, one of the most extensive surveys on living and working abroad that had already, in July, placed Lisbon at the top of expats' preferences.
