The 7th edition of Web Summit takes place between from 1-4 November. Lisbon expects to host more than 70 thousand participants, 2,630 startups and companies, 1,120 investors and 1,040 speakers - the largest participation ever.
Tuesday's opening ceremony will feature Olena Zelenska, Ukraine's first lady, Lisa Jackson, Apple's vice president responsible for the company's sustainability strategy, and Changpeng Zhao, co-founder and CEO of Binance.
This year, Web Summit features four new stages: Book Summit, Verified, Crypto and Security Summit.
"The scale of this year's event is extraordinary. The event space is at full capacity, and we are hosting more attendees, startups, speakers and investors than ever before. We are delighted to be back at full capacity and look forward to continuing to grow for years to come," Web Summit co-founder and CEO Paddy Cosgrave said in a statement.
The most represented startup industries include software services (SaaS), fintech, e-commerce, artificial intelligence (AI) and advertising.
According to the organisation, the conference will host 1,040 speakers, 34% of which are women - the same percentage as in 2021 - and more than 2,000 journalists.
Held annually since 2009, initially in Dublin, Ireland, and since 2016 in the Portuguese capital, Web Summit is considered one of the largest and most important technology events in the world, having already been attended by world-renowned personalities such as Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk.
