Portugal picked up 12 major accolades at the award ceremony of the 2022 World Travel Awards, which took place this Friday in Oman.
After receiving 30 European awards, Portugal stood out in the WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony and was granted 12 honours, confirming once again the country's immense touristic potential.
In addition to destinations such as Porto or Lisbon, Portugal was also awarded for national projects: the Paiva Walkways, in Arouca, won the title of "best adventure tourist attraction" and Parques de Sintra – Monte da Lua won the category of "best conservation company" for the tenth year. Dark Sky Alqueva was also distinguished as "the best responsible tourism project" in the world and "best European destination for responsible tourism".
The World Travel Awards include the entire tourism sector, from hotels, destinations, airlines and tour operators.

9. Best golf and villa resort – Dunas Douradas Beach Club, Almancil
10. Best luxury business hotel – Pestana Palace Hotel, Lisboa
11. Best responsible tourism project – Dark Sky Alqueva
12. Best boutique hotel operator – Amazing Evolution
Widely regarded as the "Oscars" of tourism, the World Travel Awards have been awarded by sector professionals worldwide since 1993, distinguishing the work carried out in the tourism industry, in order to stimulate the competitiveness and quality of tourism.
